Collecting Art Supplies for Beardsley School

To the members of my Temple Beth David family

My name is Noah Rockoff. I will become a bar mitzvah on September 29th of this year. As part of my studies, I have chosen a mitzvah project that means a great deal to me.

During 7th grade, my Dodd Middle School team traveled to Beardsley Elementary School in Bridgeport. Beardsley is a neighborhood school, serving grades pre-K though sixth. There are two classes per grade, with an extra class in the first grade that supports integration of special education students. We had developed pen pal relationships with some of the students and we visited them for the holidays. Arts and crafts was one of the activities we got to do with them. What struck me while we were working with those students was that not everyone could participate because there was a shortage of supplies. I realized that I tend to take school supplies for granted. I thought it would be of great help if I could find a way to donate supplies of all kinds to the school. I am looking to my community to help support my endeavor.

With that in mind, below is a list of supplies the students at Beardsley are in need of this upcoming school year. There will be a collection box in the lobby of Temple Beth David until the weekend of my bar mitzvah. I will be responsible for delivering the supplies in September.

Any questions—I can be reached at 203-272-8541 or at Thank you for your generosity and for your help.
